BLOG STATISTICS SHOW MORE PEOPLE HAVE
THINGS TO SAY NOW THAN IN 2003
THINGS TO SAY NOW THAN IN 2003
The use of blogs is rapidly growing all over the world, with the U.S. being at the top. Blogs are no longer just a thirteen-year-old girls diary, but a way for people of all ages to share news stories, common interests, and many other topics. For students, like public relations student Megan Thompson, blogging is a helpful resource to help get and give information.
Thompson’s blog, MeganT, is focused around the public relations field giving insight based on her opinions as well as opinions from other PR practitioners. The public relations field has so many different aspects, giving the blog a wide range of subjects to cover.
“This blog is a great way for me to learn more about PR, and my hopes are that others are learning just as much,” Thompson said.
Richmond is a great city with affluent interests and activities, its no wonder there are over 500 blogs. At rvablogs.com, there are about 500 blogs registered regarding the communities, businesses, newspapers, and other common interests. There is a blog for the fan in Richmond, Fan of the Fan. The Wine Cellar has its own blog, giving advice on what wines to pair with certain foods and other interesting facts on wine.
Blogging grew from about 4 million adults in 2003 to about 12 million in 2006. The Pew Internet and American Life Project stated “the ease and appeal of blogging is inspiring a new group of writers and creators to share their voices with the world.” With the growing number of use of blogs, be it with education or business use, these “inspiring writers” should continue to grow.
